Awesome big sister

Ask my daughter if I can leave the baby (nine months now) playing in her room while I get dressed.

Daughter: "Of course"
Me: "You are an awesome big sister"
Daughter: "Why do you keep saying that?"
Me: "What, that you are an awesome big sister?"
Daughter: "Yes, I already know that"
Me: "So, don't tell you that anymore?"
Daughter: "Right"

She is an awesome big sister BTW.

MLO is a ham

MLO loves to sing - she is very shy otherwise.

For the most part she hides behind me, shakes her head and whispers in my ear as a response to other people's questions.

Then at her graduation this week she had to sing a song, as a solo.

She was fabulous - other parents telling me she was the best performer. She sang loud and clear, you could understand every word, and she was on key and everything (amazing considering I can't sing in key to save my life).

Then her dance/gymnastics class had their end of semester performance, while she was distracted on the dance, she sang along very loud and perfectly.

Then her little brother loves to listen to music, so she sings to him all the time. What a great combination!

We will see where this goes.

New addition

Well we now have little boy in the family.

MLO loves her little brother to death and is constantly giving him hugs and kisses.

So that is my excuse for neglect of this blog - again :(

Houses falling over

My daughter (MLO) is four years old now and she is just putting things together in amazing ways:

We were having guests over for a dinner, I told my husband: "I straightened up the house today".

MLO: "Why? Did it fall over?"

I couldn't even answer because I was laughing so hard.

Humpty Dumpty was a bear

Driving home from school last night MLO was trying to remember something she had learned (the humpty dumpty rhyme).

I helped her so she got the whole thing:
Humpty dumpty sat on a wall
Humpty dumpty had a great fall
All the kings horses and all the kings men
Couldn't put him together again

Then she told them she had taught her friends the rhyme daddy taught her:
Fuzzy Wuzzy was a bear,
Fuzzy Wuzzy had no hair,
Fuzzy Wuzzy wasn't really fuzzy, was he?

Then she totally confused herself and couldn't get either right:
Humpty dumpty was a bear

We both started laughing and couldn't stop for awhile.

Seeing Ponyo

My mother took MLO to see the movie. It was on Labor Day so after two and half full days mommy got a little break.

My mom said MLO made an impression as there is one point in the movie when the water level raises up on island, putting everything but the top of the house the hero is staying at, under water.

The entire theatre is hushed and watching what is going to happen. The heros of the movie are looking down from their roof and MLO exclaims: "They have fish in their driveway", apparently the entire theatre starts laughing.

My comedian.

MLO's deep thoughts

A few little one liners I loved so much I wanted to remember. They all made me laugh so hard:

* "When my body gets bigger how old will I be?"

* Driving home after a long day of errands: "Is this the way to my house? Why did you put my house over here?"

* In response to me asking what the noise she was making was: "Sound of snake with a runny nose".

* Holding a deflated balloon: "the air fell out".

I love how her mind works
